Story of My Life

Dances in Garden

My Weird facts (going to try for ten)

1. My favorite time of day is when I have dropped both kids off at school/daycare and I can drive in my car all the way to work in silence.

2. I will watch Blow Out/Project Runway/Top Chef/Queer Eye re-runs all day long even if I have seen the same show 100 times.

3. I have a fear of heights and yet my personal trainer puts me on the stair master three times a week knowing that I am afraid of falling off.

4. I love to do laundry (including folding and hanging) but I hate putting it away.

5. I have given previously viewed DVD's as gifts before (LOL...to my hubby for a DVD that was hard to find)

6. My husband and I own about 300 DVD movies...of which all have been watched at least three times...and we are also enrolled in Netflix and have paid program channels....what do you think is our favorite pass time...

7. I hate crunchy food when eaten by other people...however, if I am eating crunchy food (chips or an apple) I expect there to be no complaints. (This is especially a sore point with DH).

8. I love to have my toes done, but I hate to have my feet rubbed any other time....

9. I have to have a clean kitchen every night before I go to bed or I can't sleep well

10. I have been known to reheat leftovers and serve to guests...

Hopefully there are enough weird things here and you all will come back....

Movies and Friday Nights

Well, I have to say that I had a really good time with my lady friends last night. At about 6 pm last night they showed up at our house with their husbands. We left and just went and had Mexican food at a local place and talked for about two hours before we came back to my house and checked on the guys. When we left them earlier they were debating about eating pizza or subs and who was going on the beer run. We got back to find a six pack of beer mostly gone, a pizza with sausage and bacon all gone and three men watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Now I have seen that movie at least once and I wouldn't think it would be a Friday night movie, but all three of them were really into it.

As my husband and I are huge movie fans. We probably own about 300 DVD's and will buy a movie to watch it once just to see if we like it or not. In the past year we decided to purge our collection of unwanted DVD's. This is not an easy task as we have so many. One Saturday about 2 months ago DH and I went to Ikea and bought these really cool DVD shelves to match our TV stand. They look like bookshelves, but hold DVD/CD's. We had been wanting something for a while, but just didn't know where to find what we wanted. Anyway, each of these shelf units holds about 100 DVD's when the shelves are set to display them upwards where the title can be seen. So we put them together and set them on either side of the TV stand. Start putting the DVD's in them and realize that they will not hold all the movies we have. We lived with that for about a month before I couldn't stand it anymore. Half of our movies were on display and the others were shoved in different areas of the TV stand. So we buy two more and have just enough room for all our movies. However, during this whole process DH and I thought it would be a good thing to purge our collection. Out of 300 DVD's we decide to get rid of .......30 DVD's. Yeah, that was a real purge. What happened?

Well, I guess when we started going through them we determined that we had three categories of movie, His, Mine and the kids. We didn't get rid of any of the kid movies because they all get watched. He didn't want to get rid of any of his because they are man movies. So that left me, and while I was OK with parting with a few of them I didn't want to get rid of all of them. So, I looked at the movies that were designated as "mine" and took all those that I had not watched in the last year and took them to the local library. That was a fun experience to know that my movies would be watched by someone else.

I don't know why I decided to share that story, just seemed like a good one to tell. However, what is totally ironic is with all the DVD's we have we still belong to Netflix and have paid channels and on a Friday night still watch rented movies.

Guess we are just a movie loving family.

Have a great day!

Happy Weekend!

Hello fellow bloggers. I bet you all thought that I had fallen off the face of the earth since it has been almost a week since my last post. Well, lucky for you I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just tripped a little bit getting back here.

This last week has been killer. First and foremost, I live in AZ where at this time of year it is not uncommon to have temps in the 90's or so everyday. This last week I went to turn on my AC in my car for the first time. Now my car is not old by any means, it is a 2003 Toyota Camry with quite a few miles on it because it is our family car. However, we have done all the routine maintenance and such that needs to be done. First rattle out of the box, the air blows, not cold, not hot, but luke warm. This is immediately followed by a loud rattle/buzz from the fan. Ok, not a problem. Still got about 20,000 miles left on the warrenty, so I called the Toyota dealership. Can't get me in until next week.

That was first. Second, my oldest comes home on Tuesday "My head and belly hurt!" This child has been sick more this year than in any previous years. So we head to the doctor on Wednesday praying it is not strep again. Luckily, it is not strep, but it is ear infection. AAGGHH, more anitbotics. Thankfully, she felt well enough to go to school today after two days off and will be going to her Dad's tonight.

Lastly, about a week ago I opened my big mouth and asked a couple of couples if they wanted to do girls night/boys night out this Friday knowing that we would not have kids. Well, they said yes. I am still going to go and will probably have a really good time, but right now I am just not looking forward to it.

As far as the job front goes things are great. I was able to really plow through some stuff today. It always feels good when you leave on a Friday and your desk is clean and your inbox is empty.

I guess I have also been feeling a little depressed lately because of my struggle with trying to lose weight. My trainer has been awesome, but I am just not seeing the scale move. Hopefully my body will eventually stop the fight of trying to hold on to every ounce of fat I have and give me a much needed break. While I am gaining muscle (which I can see and feel, and is awesome) I want that number on the scale to go down, not stay the same and not go up. I think if I could just break into the next ten pounds down (IE from like 154 to 148) would be enough to give me the jump I need to see things through.

Oh well, for now I am going to go enjoy myself and have a drink.

Happy Weekend!

I'm back......

Well, world it has been a crazy couple of weeks. This will probably be quite a long post, but then again, maybe not.

First of all, I have to say that I have been away for many reasons. One is because work has been so busy, but I really don't want to talk about that. Second has been because I have been trying to work out some home issues, but I don't want to talk about that either. Lastly, is because I have been dealing with my stress by working out. Good thing here is that I am learning to pound out my frustrations and such on the treadmill and weights...bad thing is that I have paid a trainer to make sure that I keep with it. That is bad because I paid a lot of money to have him work me over...the good part is that he is good at his job. I am feeling better I have lost about 1.5 % body fat and gained about 6 lbs of muscle. That is good.

Another issue that I have had is with my ex. He is not doing anything in particular, but his attitude is just making me a bit crazy. I keep getting mixed reviews from the girls about how things are going at their Dad's house. On one hand I really want them to be honest, but on another I really don't want to know all the bad things. One of my biggest fears is that one day they will grow up and blame me for not protecting them in some way shape or form. Another fear I have is that one day their Dad will tell them that it is my fault that we got divorced. However, he was the one that had an affair and in the process of trying to move past that I decided that I couldn't get over the fact that he had been with another woman. In addition, I had met someone (now my dear husband) that treated me well and I wanted to get to know. I gave him one condition of reconciliation...stop seeing her and get a new job (because they had met while working together). He didn't stop seeing her right away (which is what I wanted) nor did he look for a new location to work. Therefore, I decided I couldn't handle it. The trust was forever broken and I just couldn't move past that. I have since forgiven, but I know that one of the reasons he tried to reconcile with me was because he wanted to be able to blame the breakup on me later. He never had the intention of leaving his girlfriend, but he can always go back to "I tried to work it out but your MOM, didn't!" Anyway, I am really struggling with those issues now.

Another reason that I have been gone is because our other home computer has died. NO WORK NO MORE! We have ordered another one from Dell, and we still have our laptop, but when you have 4 people in a house and they all want computer time it is hard to schedule it all out. Hopefully the new one will be here around Monday-Tuesday of this next week. We will need to move the old information off of the computer and I think a guy at our church can help us with that.

Our kitty Diva had surgery on Thursday. She got all four feet declawed (vet's recommendation) and spayed all on the same day. I feel so sorry for her, but I know that both procedures are for the best. You see about a year ago my hubby and I spent about $6,000 redecorating our living room. New floor, new paint and new furniture. Well, I was not going to have Diva ruin it with her claws. We got her a scratching post and also tried to train her, but al in all she was happier tearing up the rugs and had tried to star on the furniture. Well, after a lot of soul searching we decided to have her declawed. In addition, while she was under we had her spayed because that is just good practice. I have to say that for a kitty that was just found outside in a tree she has been a really good addition to the family. She is now very welcome to roam about the house where before she was confined to a room when we were away.

Let's see what else is going on in our life. Well, my youngest lost another tooth pretty much by force on Thursday. She was fighting having it pulled and does have another one that needs to be pulled, but I'll let that pass for a bit.

My oldest has her solo tomorrow. I know that she will do well, but like any parent I get nervous for her even though she does not get nervous at all.

That is about it for now folks. Hope everyone has a great Easter.

April 11th, 2006

Just want everyone know I'm still alive and I am still kicking. However, just been busy.

I'll be back later this week to post more stuff.

Hello Bloggerland!

Man I have been busy. It has been about four days since my last post. I don't know why it has taken me so long to get back here. However, my life may be busy, but I can assure you it is not exciting...LOL.

My biggest bit of news this week is that I got my braces tightened today. Wowie, it hurts. Not as bad as the first time as I can still eat, but I am starting to feel the pressure. I have clear brackets on the top and metal brackets on the bottom. I get clear ties (i.e. the things that hold the wire in place on the bracket) on the top. However, on the bottom since I have metal brackets I can get colored ties. My daughter was with me the last time and got to choose the color. BRIGHT RED. That was fun, but I wanted something a little less dramatic this time. Since I will only be wearing them for 10-12 months and seeing the Dr. about every 8 weeks that amounts to 5-6 appointments, only 4 of which I get to experiment with COLOR. Therefore, today I got Lilac. I figured it is getting close to Easter and I could use something a little less WOW.

My daughter gets her phase one braces tomorrow. I am so excited because she is going to be having braces the same time as me. Granted she will only have 8 bracket (4 top and 4 bottom) compared to my 28 (+/- a few). I told her we would go get our pictures made to mark the occasion, but probably not until we both are feeling no pain, so in about a week or so. Wish me luck that we don't kill each other with whining about our PAIN.

The other revelation I made this week is that my dear husband is working his body into the ground with his workouts. He has been very cranky and irritable lately and I started watching his food consumption. That man only eats about 1100 calories a day and works out 6 days a week. CRAZY MAN! I talked to a nutritionist and we are going to get him on a better plan.

Let's see, OH I joined eDiets.com. Why do you ask? Well, here is why. I have horrible eating habits. I can stay on a diet if someone elsewhere can tell me what to eat. I am like a robot tell me what to eat, when to eat it and how much and I'll do it. Left to my own devices, I consider chocolate cake a food group. Granted I am not a large lady, but like every woman (you know who you are!!!) I have areas of my body that I would like to see shrink. Since that magic laser on Jimmy Neutron is not an option I guess I have to do it the old fashioned way....diet/exercise. I don't mind exercise so much or diet. But again, tell me when/where/how much and I'll be fine.
Anyway, if you get a chance go and check it out if you are looking for a way to eat better. I am surprised that the food I am eating I actually Enjoy and it is not Chocolate!

Lastly, I have to say that my boss paid me the nicest compliment today. He said that I was doing a great job and that he was so happy with my performance. That was just out of the blue. It was great to hear and made me want to work all the much harder for him. Then he hit me with a project. Oh well, flattery will get you.....EVERYWHERE!!! lol

Have a great week!

What Happenend?

I posted an update about our fish but it didn't make it to my blog. Needless to say...we are no longer parents of fish. One died about a week ago and I guess got the others sick.

We still have the tank set up and will probably try again at some point, but not today.

A picture....

I promised a picture when I got my new personalized liscense plate. Well here it is.

I love it. I can't believe I have a "vanity" plate. If you knew me it is not typical of me to have this. However, I guess that I need to treat myself more often. How fun!!!

Enjoy!

Our fish died...

All six of them. Gone. Don't know what I did wrong, don't know how to fix it, but we offcially have no fish.

Gotta tell the kids.
